Favorite Minds

Who are the people I am consistently giving some of my time to these days?

C.S. Lewis- forever a great first step into deeper thought about God, life and faith.  Regularly more enjoyable, more clear and more wise than what anybody else is saying on a given subject.  Try starting with Mere Christianity.

Tim Keller- If C.S. Lewis was a pastor in modern day New York…  Also, incredibly good at contextualizing the gospel into every day life.  I’ve also found Keller to be really gifted at helping the Church to know which of the old ways to let go of and which to hold fast to.

Eugene Peterson-  You’ve probably read passages from his paraphrase of the Bible, The Message.  He’s a rare contemplative (heartfelt, prayer shaped, poetically minded, lover of God) that doesn’t make many theological mistakes.  Start with A Long Obedience in the Same Direction.

J.I. Packer- The first true theologian of the people I’ve listed.  Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God helped me to put my fears about God’s love for the Elect to rest.

Just to mention a few…
